Event information

General information

The challenge starts on 02/03/2020. There will be several rounds to play for the ranking (each week a new round).

During the coming weeks, you will receive each Friday evening 9PM an invitation via mail for a new match. This invitation will include the details of your match to be played in that week. This mail also includes the details of your opponent and the prefered place to play.

Your opponent does receive the same mail, thus the same information. With this information you can contact him to arrange the exact date and time of your match during that week.

After your match has been played, submit the score of the match on this site. Be sure to be doing this by the end of that week on Friday 8 PM otherwise your score won't be included in the rankings!

Automated opponent selection

The allocation of your opponent is done in a fair manner by an automated algorithm that takes into account the details such as the favourite place, city and school you have specified during your subscription to this event.

Handicap

The table tennis level of the players is not included in this algorithm. If there is a difference in experience between you and your opponent, you can compensate this with a handicap system to keep every game fair. This is however no obligation and you are free to use this or not in accordance with your opponent.

Score Calculation

  • Match WON 3 points for the winner and 0 points for the loser.
  • Match TIE not allowed.
  • Match FORFAIT 0 points for the player who gives forfait and 3 points for his opponent.

Notices

  • Step 1: Random assigned opponents.
  • Step 2: Match invitations always on Friday between 8 and 9PM.
  • Step 3: Arrange the match details, date, time and place with your opponent.
  • Step 4: Play the match.
  • Step 5: Submit your score weekly before the score deadline has reached each Friday 8PM.

Rules information

Challenge Regulation

BY KU LEUVEN ASSOCIATION
  • During the challenge, every opponent is chosen at random to each other, regardless of their classification. There will be played with a handicap system. A higher ranked player should give points for a lower ranked player. The number of points is determined by a pregift table (see below).
  • Weekly the players receive by mail on Firday a new challenger. It's up to the players themselves to arrange with their opponent a time and location to meet up for their match. Finally before the end of the week the result of the match must be transmitted online.

Table Tennis Rules

BY KU LEUVEN ASSOCIATION
  • Play up to 3 winning sets (max 5 set/game).
  • A set is won by the player who first reaches 11 points.
  • A set can only be won with a difference of 2 points. If this leads up to scoring points above 11, there needs to be played until the difference is 2 points (ex. 12-10, 13-11, ...)
  • After each set there will be a switch of sides.
  • After two services there is a switch.

Remark: Mix male and female players

  • When one of the players of the match is female and her opponent is male, then the male pre-gift table is used for both players. In that case the level of the female player is thus increased with one letter.
  • Example: Lady (B2 level women) vs Man (B0 level men) is translated to Lady (C2 level men) vs Man(B0 level men) which corresponds to a pre-gift to the lady of 3 points in the men table.
